A new academic award recognizing outstanding Gorkha girl students has been announced in Nagaland, offering a cash prize of Rs 50,000 to the top performer in the HSLC Examination 2026 from Kohima district. The Sudha Das Academic Excellence Award was established by the family of Late BK Das and Late Gangamani Rai Das in collaboration with GSUK, and the announcement was made by GSUK President Meghraj Lama.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria

The award is open exclusively to Gorkha or Nepali girl students who appeared for the 2026 HSLC Examination conducted by the Nagaland Board of School Education from schools located in Kohima district. Eligibility is determined by the school’s location, not the student’s place of residence.

The recipient will be chosen based on the highest overall percentage across all six subjects. Notably, the student is not required to hold Non-Naga indigenous Gorkha status, but must belong to the Gorkha community.
