Aphuyemi FC of Zunheboto district claimed their third Nagaland Futsal Club Championship title on Saturday, defeating Team Aspirants FC of Kohima 5-3 in the final of the 5th edition of the tournament. The match was played at Riga’s Astro Turf in New Terogvunyu, Tseminyu, bringing the three-day championship to a close.

Third Title and National Berth for Aphuyemi FC

The victory adds to Aphuyemi FC’s growing record in Nagaland’s premier futsal competition. The club previously won the second and fourth editions of the tournament, making them the most successful side in the championship’s history. As winners, they take home a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and earn the right to represent Nagaland at the national championship scheduled for next year. Runners-up Team Aspirants FC received Rs 50,000.

Road to the Final

Ten teams from across Nagaland competed in the 5th Nagaland Futsal Club Championship, which ran from June 18 to June 21, 2026. The semifinals produced contrasting results. Team Aspirants FC advanced with a dominant 15-2 win over TRS FC of Tuensang, while Aphuyemi FC edged past SC Nagaland of Mon 4-3 in a closely contested second semifinal.

Closing Ceremony

The closing ceremony was attended by Tseminyu Deputy Commissioner Japheth Woch. Tournament director Hethanglo Kath presented the official tournament report at the event. The championship was organised by the Nagaland Football Association, with the Football Association Tseminyu District serving as host.
